With over three million acres, Alaska is home to the
largest state park system in the United States and holds
nearly one-third of America's state park acreage. Over
130 state park units stretch from the rain forests and
fjords of Southeast through the glacier-carved mountains
of central Alaska to the rolling hills and birch forests
of the Interior. The state park system is host to about
6 million visitors per year of which 25% are from other
states.
